HANS KNOECHL

( 1850 - 1927 )

A superb signed oil on panel by the Prague born painter Hans Knoechl. The artist worked mostly in Germany and Austria and this work is inscribed Munchen lower right for Munich. The work is on panel and in very good condition and has come from the Cooling Galleries in London.

Size: c. 9.5 x 7 inches unframed / 14 x 11.5 inches framed

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Bohemian, 19th century, male.

Born 26 July 1850, in Prague.

Painter. Portraits, genre scenes.

Hans Knoechl studied under Trenkwald at the academy in Prague and A. Wagner at the academy in Munich. He also studied with Lindenschmidt and Piloty. He went to Italy, but then settled in Munich.
