Description

This is a rare and original ancient Roman bronze coin depicting Empress Fausta, the wife of Constantine I. It is an AE follis measuring 18-19mm (0.70-0.75 inches) and weighing 3.32gm (0.11 oz). The coin was struck in the Heraclea mint in AD 325-326 and features a mantled bust of Fausta on the obverse and an image of the Empress or Spes standing facing, holding two children in her arms, on the reverse. The coin has an original glossy dark patina over ancient silvering and has not been cleaned. It is in excellent condition and would be a rare and valuable addition to any fine collection. The mintmark on the coin is SMHA. Authenticity guaranteed.
